I don't know much about Lefever but the dog looks much like the dog on my Lewis 4 E Grade Ithaca. I am lead to believe from Synders book that the engraver was Edward Lathem circa 1902. Joseph Loy was his senior and was a mystery man and hard to trace as I have only found one photo of that master. His dogs on the Remington 1894 era SXS I covet and may someday get to own one. What a master of engraving dogs and birds!! Bruce your collection of guns you could charge admission to see! I enjoy and learn so much from your postings. Hope to meet you one day.
