I used to be a normal human being and sportsman. Now I'm becoming something I never expected: A paranoid. News just out today that the crotch-groping TSA has ordered 24 million rounds of pistol ammo. That's enough to fight WWII for months...

And since pistol and shotgun powders are similar and run on the same production line/tools, you may not see any of our stuff for, oh, four years or so. Here's one site's view of the issue:

just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

stopped at a shop on the way home - could have primers in any size I wanted as long as I wanted Winchester, very few types of other brands, no CCI large rifle and they said they cannot get them. I asked for a specific rifle powder - they had one pound of it so I took that. I can load for everything I shoot, even if its not every load I like.

I just received an E-Mail from Natchez Shooter Supply that my order from 3/28/13 was available. It was so long ago I didn't know what it was and had to call them. I now have 500 6mm 75gr Hornady V-Max bullets for my .243 varmint rifle coming. maybe I should have bought a 1000 but I haven't been to the prairie dog town in quite a while

Went to pick up some 20/28 for someone at a gunstore that has always had alot of it in stock since this whole issue started, and you guessed it , they were out and didnt know when more would come in. They seemingly had lots of rifle/pistol powders but no shotgun powders.
Win 209 primers were $49/brick, but I picked up a brick of Fed 209A primers for $27. I know these are hotter than the W209's I currently use, but hope to find some low pressure loads I can use the in, in 12, 16, or 20 ga. Since most of the low pressure loads I use are on the "wimpy" side, will it really make that much difference?

Primer substitution can ramp up pressure by over 3000 psi all else being equal. Tread carefully.

If you can buy Fed 209A's for $27 per brick, buy a couple of sleeves. For 12ga using Clays or Clay Dot and straight wall hulls, there are many low pressure recipes to choose from.

I found some nice low pressure loads in 12 ga AA and Rems, 7625 and PB, using the Fed 209A in an IMR loading guide--also in Fed hulls, which I dont have any. I've got 2 lbs each of 7625 and PB, so I am set--think I'll go out and buy the rest of their Fed209A stock.
