Default Remington vs Parker Bros butt plates

Am I correct that all Parker Bros DHBP will have both words - Parker and Brothers on the butt plate, and that Remington guns will typically just say Parker?

In question is a 1918 gun with what looks like the proper stock curvature but has a dog with the bird in the mouth and just says Parker on the top.

Answer: Yes, you are correct.

Attached is a photo of a 1921 gun. Some from that era will have an recessed dog's head. Larger frame guns will typically have a dog holding a duck. All DHBP's from 1918 will originally have "Parker Brothers".

Never say never.
Remington could have replaced the plate at the factory with a newer type plate. People thought nothing of sending their guns for the smallest things. Over and over and over.

It's confusing but the dogs head, and bird varied not only by year, but by frame size. The Serialization and Identification book has a good variety of the butt plates and describes their progression. Guns made in Meriden, after Remington bought Parker, may still say 'Bros', as inventory was used up, but Remington was restricted in using 'Bros' and did not, once they moved production to Ilion NY.
