ken....i will weld a bit of metal to the hook the latch catches on then slowly file it down till the latch locks tightly. but i only do this if no other problems are found in the forend. i have found a few latch cross pins that were bent causing a simalar problem. to fix this i use a piece of drill rod to replace the bent cross pin.
