Thanks Mark.....Looks like it is not a big deal or unusual that a gun did not make it to the "book". I would agree records are a big part of why Parkers are so collectable.

Fritz, the whole situation about availability of serial number information is explained on page 58 and forward in the Serialization Book. Page 58 begins the "Inventory of Stock Books", which are available for research and which are missing, by serial number. Charlie Price has a stash of information that adds a few numbers to the list of available numbers, so some numbers appear that are not actually included in the Stock Book Inventory. The authors also searched the "Order Books" for additional numbers, such numbers by example are shown in the Appendeces of The Parker Story. Since our researchers have full use of the "Order Books" as well as the "Stock Books", numbers that are missing from the Serialization Book are still quite likely to be available to the PGCA Researcher. In other words, the SB is only one of several research vehicles available to collectors.

Fritz: Also, there is quite a bit of information that can sometimes be obtained from Griffin & Howe on guns sold by Abercrombie & Fitch, VonLengerke & Detmold and VonLengerke & Antoine that may not be in the SB, Go to www.griffinhowe.com/research-main.cfm
to see if your gun is there. Best Regards, George |

A 12 gauge VHE walked into our shop the other day and it had been suggested to the owner that the barrels may have been cut since the matting went right to the front edge of the barrels. The gun was among the missing in the Parker records but when I checked I found that it was sold at VL&D in 1917 with 28 inch barrels - the same length that they are now. Please call if you have a question about a Parker that you own - or hope to own. Just check the serial number on the research page of our website. Just be prepared to learn that it was originally a lower grade than it appears to be now.
I'll see you at Hausmann's. I have all of our Parker records in my computer. Bob Beach Griffin & Howe, Inc. http://www.griffinhowe.com/research-main.cfm Last edited by Robert Beach; 05-18-2012 at 05:47 PM.. |

Whenever I have sought a research letter fromm Bob Beach, whether a Parker or another gun, he has always provided me with a whole lot more information than I ever expected.
