Default Planning a trip to Argentina or Chile

Hey all , I am looking for ideas on a bird hunting trip to either Argentina or Chile.
I am about a year away but I would like to start the planning process now . My wife will be going with me as she would like to include a trip to either country's wine producing areas . My interests would be to hunt duck and Perdiz and include trips to area winerys . If there is such a set up please let me know . If anyone has done anything similar please tell me your experiences and do's and don'ts . Thanks .

Give TREK International a call and speak with Larry. I'm confident he could put together what you want to do. 800-654-9915. I've used TREK many times and always have a great trip. Bill Davis

I go to Argentina every year. I do not beleive there is much commercial sport hunting in Chile. Uruguay is another alternative to Argentina. I am heading for a return trip, Parker in hand, to Tucuman in semi-tropical NW Argentina in early July for ducks, perdiz and doves (Southern Wing Outfitters).Last year we hunted in southern BA province and La Pampa province for duck and doves as well (Four Seasons Adventures- their main duck lodge- San Jose is quite grand). The year before that for ducks only just an 1 1/2 hour drive south of BA itself (a Manuel Lainez operation- always first rate.).

Argentina's wine country is centered around Mendoza in the shadow of the Andes not a place that I am aware is rich in commercial bird hunting opportunities. Much of Chile's wine country is in between Santiago and the coast (I was there last year) again not a place I suspect hunting will be easy to find. Booking a solo hunt can be done but many outfitter prefer groups. Los Ombues is a very good choice for a first time trip.

Frontiers International (http://frontierstravel.com) put together a custom dove/trout trip fror us a few years back. They aren't the cheapest, but you'll never find anyone who sweats the details like they do. We've used them on 3-4 different trips, and the results have always been first rate
