Default Precision Reloading Shot Shipping

Precision Reloading offers a $22 shipping option on 50 Lbs of shot in a USPS Flat Rate Shipping Box. The next option is $103 UPS Shipping. Has anyone taken advantage of this shipping option? I find it kind of hard to believe that a rural carrier will deliver a 50 Lb package to my door?

I did about 5-6 years back when i was about to run out of 6's and 71-2 s. I watched my mail carrier come up the walk struggling and opened the door and he said'' what is this fishing sinkers''. I do not know i said and got him a $20.00 gift card for Christmas. All other shot i get through my club.

BPI has those deals, and if I recall the last time, it was $12.99.
They pack a LOT better than Precision too.
My mail person hates me.

I'm lucky in that I can buy components: shot, primers, wads and powder, locally. I just scored 10 bags of the incredible Heper 6% antimony shot.

I have been buying the two bag 50lbs of lead shot a couple of times a year when the price is right for many years. It's been shipped by both UPS and USPS. Years ago the woman who delivered my mail backed the little USPS truck up in my driveway and was rolling the box end over end into my carport. After that I found square shot makes for great spreader loads

BPI offers it, as noted, several times a year and Recobs has 15.00 shipping for two bags.

I've been buying shot this way for years. I just watch the shipping deals offered and buy from who has the best offer at the time. The last two orders I made was from BPI @ 12.99 USPS flat rate. I had to go down to the post office to pick one of them up because they said it was too heavy for the carrier to deliver. The other order was delivered to my door step a few days later.

I've been lucky that everything has worked good for me, but I have a friend who had an empty box delivered because the shot broke the box apart during handling. Luckily the dealer made it right & shipped him another two bags @ no charge, but I'll bet there was some foul language being used wherever it was that had all those #8's rolling around

Years ago when I had no other option I did that. I noticed my mailbox on the road leaning over a bit. Yup. Inside were 4 bags stacked and pushed all the way in. Was a bugger getting them out and my 4'6" 95lb rural mail carrier said she never wanted to see me again

The main reason I buy shot or any reloading supplies this way, is due to the hit & miss situation with finding these supplies at a local retail store around here. Even though we have two Cabelas stores, a Bass pro, sportsman's warehouse etc. "which are all owned by Bass pro" you never know if they will have what you're looking for or have any reloading supplies at all for that matter. All of these are miles from my house & it simply isn't worth the time or effort it takes to drive to them just to be disappointed.

Even though they aren't local, I'd much rather spend my money with the online specialty outfits like BPI or Precision reloading to help keep them in business & be reliable sources for reloading supplies.
