I bought this project from a fellow PGCA member maybe 3 years ago when I was on the hunt for a hammer gun better than a Grade 3. The wood was held together with nails and it needed a tasteful refresh. It was a great project gun with heavy walls on the barrels, tight on face and all the original parts. The engraving was also in great shape. Chris Dawe did the restock, barrels were refinished and bores cleaned up. It’s a 32”. Serial 30672.

I see she originally had a SSBP and checkering. I am assuming you redid her butt with the same treatment? Nothing like a skeleton butt plate and checkering.

Brian that is such a beautiful hammer gun! 32" Bernard barrels...what more could a man want?

I like everything about that Parker. The restock looks amazing! You can and should use that gun all the time.

I hope you will bring it to the Southern this year.

This gun sat in my shop for quite some time while the previous owner was trying to figure out what he wanted to do with it. Barrels are chambered 12g but have 10g sized bores. The bores were pretty bad looking pitting wise. Though the wall thickness as they were was good, it was a big unknown how much it would take to clean them up. That is a process that once it is started, you are committed.

The previous owner decided to let someone else roll the dice. And Brian took on the project. I was really happy to hear when he told me about how well the bores cleaned up without too much material being taken out. Pitting always looks worse when looking across it down the bores.

Chris did the woodwork on my Bernard barreled Grade 4 several years ago and he sent many of the metal parts to another Canadian craftsman for a professional refinish and re-engraving.
