Default Help me buy my first Parker

Greetings from South Carolina!

A friend asked me to help him sell a couple shotguns and one is a Parker. I’ve long wanted a Parker and here is the opportunity.

Here is what it is: A 12 Gauge Grade V with Vulcan steel barrels. It was made in 1919. The frame is a 1 and the barrel weight is marked 310. All original to include the buttplate. Used and finish worn with OK bluing on the barrels and no color cases still present on the frame. The barrels are 28”. Bores are excellent and she locks up well.

I need to come up with a price that is fair to my friend but fair to me as well. What does a plain old field gun like this really sell for when passed between friends for cash? I’m assuming I do not have anything here particularly rare or collectible.

Thanks for your help!

Perhaps not rare, but a 1 frame 12 isn't that common, and providing the gun fits you, it could be a great first gun for walk-up, and upland hunting. In my opinion, despite 12s being somewhat slow movers today, and providing there aren't any issues, $1000 to $1250 would be fair for both you and your friend.

Here are a few pictures. There are a few markings that may enlighten things to the expert eye.

I just did an advanced search on Gun Broker and found 3 recently sold VH guns with selling prices between $400-600. Here's a link to the one that sold for just over $600.

After seeing these pictures, I think $500 would be generous.

That gun looks like the barrels have been cut as stated 23" and it might be why it sold for less

I didn't notice that as it definitely caused it to sell at a discounted price.

Default View the Jaquay fine gun store in findley, ohio.

Some arr pricey but some area reasonable.

Earlier this year I bought a Parker "Trojan" in 16ga, with gaudy electric blue barres and receiver.

it was tight to the action, [actually I held a "ATM' receipt [measures 0.002" thick] and the action keep it.

barrels are 28" and appears choked , right barrel measured @ IC, Left @ "Full"

Good Luck.
