Good grief. That's quite a piece of news. Does anyone own an early Parker single with those updates?

I will guess, the letter is signed by Leroy J. Gaines in office operations. Named on pages 494 and 495 in The Parker Story, Vol. 2

University of Minnesota library has this picture of a Mr. Alfred Peterson, from Pipestone, Minnesota in 1913. Fine looking automobile, wishing he was carrying a shotgun too! Such as # 178427 https://umedia.lib.umn.edu/item/p160...itle_sort+desc

I'm not sure if we know the exact serial number of the first single trap with the one piece hammer/firing pin. We know that 178,427 was originally a two piece hammer.
