I have a SG, DT SFE 28ga 2-bbl NSFL set that is S/N 28-1, the first of the series of 1000? I really don't care that it's one of that series; it's just a nice 28ga to me. I would guess that only the NSFL members might care much if a gun were of that series. Mine is likely more valuable due to it's relatively rare and sought after configuration. Personally, now that I have to shoot left handed, I'd prefer it to be a single trigger.
Oddly, it came without snap caps. Not sure if that's the norm and can't see why it would be. I've not particularly babied it; I haul it around on snowshoes when hunting ptarmigan and have used it a lot on grouse and woodcock in Minnesota and elsewhere. The "case hardening" of course has suffered. The dealer who sent it to me didn't wrap the pcs up inside the case and it rattled around quite a bit. When I opened it here, there was case hardening "sparklies" scattered all over the case and the barrels had been left uncleaned after being fired, which was a surprise. Can't imagine why a very prominent dealer, or anyone for that matter, would do that. I wasn't impressed. It had lost a lot of case hardening before I ever saw it. 14-5/8" LOP to the front trigger, which is a bit longer than I prefer, but somehow hasn't been an issue; I've made some good shots with it. |

When I put it on the market my experience was that no one really cared about it being a limited special run gun & wouldn't pay a premium for it being an NSFL gun, but times may have changed since then. I personally don't believe there would be a de-valuation for these either. Nice guns with good wood bring good prices & sell well. Those with just so-so wood with condition issues not so much!! |

The NSFL was started by Jim Rikhoff formerly of Winchester Press. He also formed Amwell Press putting out limited edition sporting books along the lines of the old Derrydale press. The NSFL was limited to 1000 members who received limited edition books for the cost of membership. Also offered were hunts and the Parker Reproductions. The fraternity has been defunct for quite a number of years.

Good question Rick! I think that's part of the problem with them; no one has ever heard of the NSFL! I sure hadn't and most of the time can't remember even now what it stands for. NSFL??? Wattizhat?? An NFL league for seniors????
