Default EVER USE A RIG RAG

How many folks on this site have used rig grease and a rig rag to wipe down guns , just wondered if the petroleum base would harm wood, Gary

I would not use it on wood, that's why I use Clenxoilto wipe down my guns as it won't hurt the wood or finish.

Have used it for 30 years (in fact, just finished wiping down the DHE I just posted a question about). I love the stuff, and have had no bad experiences, altho I don't use it to wipe down the wood

I suspect the issue is not "which", but "when". Any reasonable product will work if applied conscientiously.

no petroleum on the wood

that is a big factor in the failure of old gun stocks

Renaissance Wax, is what I use. It is a microcrystalline wax polish used in antique restoration and museum conservation.

I have used RIG for 40 years. Great stuff. The lambswool "rag" seems to apply just the right amount. I don't use it on wood.

Same. I do like Clenzoil though.

I use RIG strictly on the sides of the barrel lug, on the barrel hook and on the knuckle articulating surfaces. It is a superior product for these applications.
