Default Lefever Arms Co. Advertisement 1914

I came across this Lefever Arms Co. advertisement on eBay a few months ago. The page is from "National Sportsman", and the seller indicated it was from 1914. I thought it was interesting, and wound up buying it to frame.

The writing on the photo reads, "After chickens with a single trigger", and lists serial number 58450. I checked with the Lefever Arms Collectors Association, and that number is not in the serial numbers that they have recorded, so far. Too bad it is too late to contact the Lefever Arms Co. and find out his name, like the ad suggests.

That is way cool. You would be hard-pressed to find an advertisement like that today in our media. Dog biscuits, fishing baits, pipes, and shotguns. Does it get any better than that? Well I guess they could have added bourbon. Good find.....

I've never seen a National Sportsman magazine with 537 pages. My guess is that is a page from a book with loads of advertisements at the rear of the book...... but that's still a lot of pages.

Sara, here's a single trigger advertisement from a June 1912 issue of the American Field. These early AF's usually have one Lefever advert per issue.

I look forward to meeting you at the Northeast SxS.

The magazine National Sportsman numbered the pages of all twelve Issues in a Volume from page 1 in Issue 1 to the last page in Issue 12. Here are a couple of A.H. Fox Gun Co. ads from 1912 --

It Drops the Game, September 1912.JPG

Dead Calls the Referee, October 1912.JPG

American Field did the same for their actual text pages but in each Issue the advertising was mostly on pages numbered with Roman Numerals I to VIII.

Frank,
I'll be there all day Friday and Saturday, probably around the Lefever tables or out shooting. Looking forward to meeting you too.

Well, I finally found time to get the page to the framer on Monday. I was shocked when I got the call that it was ready today! I love how it turned out. He also put a copy of the other side of the page on the back of the frame, for future reference. Pardon my poor photos, they don't do it justice (and sorry for them being sideways; not sure how to fix that on here).
