Get a hold of Allen Newell or George Purtil. Allen lives in Plymouth, and George spends so much time down there he may as well live there. Well, I guess he does, summers.

If you send it to another FFL you are going to have to fill out all the paper work as if you were purchasing it again. He won't ship it directly back to you in MD?
I'm in the north east corner of CT, I could accept it for you but the only way you are going to get away without jumping through the hoops is to receive it back at your home. |

Tom, Could you clarify something. Are you moving to Mass. ? Or are you going on some sort of vacation. We are a FFL in Ct. and I don't know the exact rules in Mass. but I would make sure you don't need the proper Mass. permits to take possession.

It has always been my understanding that a gun being shipped to and from a repair facility does not need an FFL Transfer because you are not transferring ownership.
In any case, you could try Dan Cullity in East Sandwich, MA. He is a master gunsmith and ships and receives all kinds of firearms for repair/restoration all over the country. .

Dean I think the problem here is that his repair FFL wants to send to a FFL only. I can see his reasoning because his books would show it as coming in from one place and shipping to another. If this is all done over the phone it is to easy for something shady to take place. He wants a FFL at the receiving end for CYA purposes. People used to ship firearms to themselves all the time for out of state hunting trips in care of a outfitter ect.. But it is a different world and the laws vary greatly state to state.
