Default Smoked turkey

I'm ready to take my punishment for a non-Parker hunt--40 lashes with a computer cord, but I had a great hunt this morning and just thought I'd share it. I used the venerable old 870 that I worked very hard to buy in high school by baling hay for the local dairy farmers. I grew up very poor( I didn't know it then), and it was the first gun I ever bought. I only use it now for turkeys. I went out to my farm this morning, and it took only 15 minutes to call in this bad boy. His beard actually measures 15 1/2 " to the end of the longest beard strands--by far the longest beard I've ever taken! It was my first time to hunt this season as I was at the Southern last week. The 870 is from the early
1960's, at least its not black plastic.

Good job Harold. My first gun was an 870 too.

Darn you would think if you're going to use a Remington it could atleast be a Model 1894 10 gauge or perhaps a Model 32 or at the worst a SP-10

All BS aside congrats on a nice bird

Yes, much nicer than the 870 Express models sold at all the discount stores. Mine has accounted for at least 30 turkeys and countless deer. It was my rabbit and grouse gun before I got my first double, a Fox SW 16. I have a harder time sighting down the rib of a sxs on "sitting" targets

One of these magazines had a list of top 10 or top 20 American guns and the 870 was not on there. My brother and I agreed that such a list without the 870 is not a list
