The industrial hulls used to be available for reloading from a couple different places. You just have to resize the brass, they won't load in an actual shotgun otherwise.

I resized about 100 NPE, and sent my sizing equipment on to another member. They are about all that's available today, and they are very high quality. The current version are black. They used to be Green, and the Winchesters are clear.

I have some of these shells in paper hull and plastic hull....they varied in different colors thru the years....I have grren ones yellow and black in the Remington brand...the Winchesters are clear im sure the early Winchesters were paper too...the 4 gauge was also made in industrial shells and I ve seen them in 10 ga and 12 ga...the 12 ga is fired from a regular shoulder fired gun...I read an articule on the 12 ga...this fellows job was to break up the clinkers in a furnace...he used up to 3 pallets of ammo in a given night..he said no kind of shotgun made except a Mossberg pump gun would make it thru 3 pallets of ammo with out tearing up except the Mossberg s...lots of shells in a pallet of ammo...charlie

Craig, I'm not sure what concerned you about the industrial hulls, but if you were to cross-section one (Yes, I have) you would find they are as stoutly made as possible, and certainly more so than hull like the cheap Winchesters sold at Walmart, etc. The double belt of the rim is added to the first one, so you have twice the base thickness. If you owned an 8 ga. you would be using these, or none at all.

It's a little ragged around the primer pocket, but that's because I was using a hacksaw. The base seems pretty darn stout in my opinion.

He may have assumed they would chamber in a shotgun as is, leading to his concern. Of course their value, unless you own industrial equipment that uses them, is in resizing the empty hulls and loading for 8ga shotgun.
