The whole gun I believe, in order to make the second set of barrels have the exact same pitch as the original set. And yes, Parker Brothers would stamp the second set of barrels and forend with a 2 and at the time of the addition of the second set of barrels they would mark the first set of barrels/forend with a 1, and yes, they would have the 1 and 2 stamped on the forend iron below the serial number and on the forend lug as well.
