VHE Buttplate Spur
I was under the impression that V grades all had the butt plate spur inlet into the stock. But I recently acquired this 1928 production 16 gauge VHE and, as you can see, it wears a dogs head butt plate with no spur. My first assumption was that the stock must have been cut in front of the spur inlet, the spur ground off, and the butt plate refitted to the shortened stock...but it measures exactly 14.25 inches from the front trigger. It appears in all other respects to be the original V grade stock, with the expected inlaid gold shield.
Did some Parker V grades leave the factory without a spur on the butt plate?
