House fire with parkers

Hello everyone I figured I'd become a member since I Inherited 11 parkers from my grandfather! I recently had a house fire and I couldn't get 2 of my parkers out got the receivers and barrels clean up pretty decent but the stocks are blackened! Are the anyway of restoring the stocks without the smell of smoke? 1 was a dh 12 Damascus and other was a very 20 that's has been upgraded to what I believe too be an A1?

You haven't shown us pictures of the stocks. That's an interesting upgrade. Who did the engraving on that one?

I don't know who engraved it my grandfather been dead since 99 and I'm just now really getting into the sxs myself but I'm only 30 years old tho

Somebody did a decent job of stocking and checkering that gun, unfortunately the engraving is somewhat amatuerish... but Hey - it's a wonderful inheritance!

Thanks for the info like I said I'm just now getting into the sxs game! I'm wanting too learn as much as I can about sxs! My grandfather was a shotgun enthusiast, and I ended up with his collection of parkers,a.h fox's,lc smith,model21,charles boswell! So any info greatly appreciated!!

For starters, Murphys oil soap might clean the wood up pretty well.

With smoke damage the smell is very tough to remove. The Murphy’s Oil Soap is a good start. May require a stripping and refinish of the wood furniture and even after that may still have a faint smoke smell. Brian or one of the wood guys on this site may have better recommendations.

Leave them out in the open air as much as you can. That's what my wife makes me do with my clothes after I come home from an activity where pipes or cigars were involved !
