Tomorrow is opening day of bob white season!
Taking my Parker VH 16, 28" barrels, 5lbs 13oz and my five French Brittanys - Molly Red, Belle, Ginger, and Buddy.
Have the dog boots and duct tape in the house warming up over the heater vent so the boots will stay on. A box of RST Vintagers (7/8oz of 7-1/2s) sets in the truck. My hunting boots are by the front door. The truck is gassed, the dog-water containers full, the GPS tracking collars are acharging.
Supposed to be a high in the fifties so not too hot for the dogs. Low in the twenties so too cold for the rattlesnakes.
I have anecdotal reports indicating the possibility of a quail population large enough to be huntable. Will know sometime tomorrow if my lease will be hunted this season.
Meeting my friend at the lease at 7:00AM. He is cooking breakfast. I am bringing lunch (cold fried chicken, bananas, and apples)
Just got back in last night from hunting huns, sharptails, and pheasant for sixteen straight days in Montana. We are all in shape and ready to go.
I love the fall and winter! Those two are the best seasons of the year!
Best,
Mike
