Default Parker VH .410 at auction

I was hoping to win this and placed a decent, but not extraordinary, bid on it. I wasn’t even close!

It hammered at $55,000, nosebleed territory for me. When you add in the 17.5% buyer’s premium, sales tax for me at 6%, a 1% insurance fee and they now have a 1% performance fee if it hammers over the high end estimate, you are at $67,895 before shipping, insurance for shipping, and FFL fees are added in. A reasonably priced .410 VH is a stretch for me, and now it seems few, if any, are even reasonable. I’m not sure why this one brought so much other than it was offered at RIA.

I like all the Parker 410’s but the one that sticks in my mind was at the first or second Guyette and Deeter auction it was a VHE 410 skeet 26” straight grip single trigger checkered butt trap forend and it hammered at 100k I think it was . Of course that gun had superb condition as well .

When my interest in Parkers began you could purchase a new Corvette or a 410 VH for equivalent money. Last time I was at the dealership a new Corvette started at $106,000 with no discount.

There is not much cooler than a Parker 410. They are priced accordingly.

In 1968 there was a Parker .410 that sold at a local sporting goods store for $700.I missed it by a couple of days but probably couldn't have afforded it anyway.I knew who bought it and when he passed about 20 years ago tried to see if it was going to be sold but he had given everything to his elderly aunt and who knows where it is today.

Great bird dogs and Parker 410s, got to get there quick if an owner passes.

Was the gun a Parker Bros? If so that was one heck of a buy.

I am glad that my VHE .410 Skeet is a bird gun. I couldn't imagine dragging a $102,000 gun through the brush.

That one, Ian, is about mint. Had it been a well used (with wear and handling marks) VHE .410 I would have guessed about between $25k - $30k.
