Any patents would have expired long ago.
Remington owns the "Parker" name concerning Parker shotguns.

I think they cleared the brush by calling it the Parker Reproduction if I remember correctly.

Remington owns all rights to the Parker name. Galazan makes the new Parker Guns with permission from Remington.
I believe that is right that the reproductions could be made called as such. Any patents to the mechanism are long expired.

Interesting to think about. The patent(s) have long since passed but the copyright(s) on the name are still viable. I think patents last 14 years and copyright lasts 99 years and are renewable??? I'm sure with all the lawyers on the forum I will be corrected if I'm wrong.
As I remember it, when Parker Bros. sold out to Rmeington they kept the copyright for the name "Parker Bros." and Remington guns are marked simply "Parker" to avoid a conflict. Then when Winchester made the reproductions they did something similar by using the name "Parker Reproductions". Galazan is making Parker shotguns for Remington, so he can use the "Parker" name since Remington owns that name. The question that I now see is, with Parker Bros long out of business does anyone own the "Parker Bros." name? A few years ago, there was a start up company making Parker over/under shotguns. I have not seen anything about them in a long time and I can't get google to find anything either. I wonder if they were using "Parker Bros." on their guns? Maybe they own it? |

I would assume that the Parker Bros. name was owned by the Charles Parker Company and the rights to the name might have been acquired by another party when the company was completely out of business.
