Default 10 ga lifter at Novi

Did anyone see the early 10ga hammer lifter Parker at the Novi show, S/N 258, that had the side plate engraved with a dead pigeon laying on a trap????? If so, why in the world was it still there this afternoon??!! Nice gun! VERY light. Wood was pretty broken up so he had it all fixed by someone in Michigan who did a good job. Cased in a Parker case. What a beauty. The only thing I scored was 8 rds of pristine Super-X paper 10 ga #5shot ammo that was in a Winchester pistol ammo box and labeled "Old 12 ga ammo".... for $2.00. There were a lot of Parkers there but all seemed over priced by quite a bit. One fellow had a very nice vintage Wm Moore nitro proofed 12ga hammer gun in a case with loading accessories that, were I working steadily, I might have gone for. He also had a nice Greener hammerless 10ga for reasonable money. Lots of good stuff there but not near as many vendors as last year. One vendor actually gave me a free hammer screw for my 1842 Springfield musket.

That lifter gun has been there for a couple shows now. Upon last questioning, the owner was just "showing it" and didn't seem inclined to make a price. The engraving is the only thing that makes the gun special, the stock is a trainwreck and I think the barrel has been trimmed as well.

The stock is a bit of a mess but pretty nicely repaired considering what a mass of splinters it seemed to be before the repair. I didn't like the checkering. Kurt says it is $6K+ so is definitely too high. It would be my dream light 10ga if it were in better shape and affordable.

At $6000 I think he must be using the barrels to smoke some of that Tijuana Tobacco. The engraving is cool but it wouldn't double+++ the price on the gun.

DeHo- please get a photo of the engraving. We can get GG to put it on a gun for a lot less than that!

I'll be at the February show, if the gun is there I'll get a pic for sure.
