if you clean the receiver and not the rest of the gun, it will look odd...if you clean the whole gun it will look even odder...leave it alone and enjoy the patina.

I can see that there are still case hardening colors so if it were my gun, I'd avoid anything abrasive. I would give it some careful applications, with a Q-tip, or cotton swabs, of Dove dishwashing soap, then mineral spirits. Take care not to get the mineral spirits onto the wood. If you want to break the gun down, put all the metal bits into a bath on the ultrasonic cleaner.

Flitz will remove any remaining CC be carefull careful l oil and a soft cloth

Fine bronze wool and a little gun oil works good as well. I have found that a frame will clean up nice with a little regular use, my last aquisition went grey to silver in about 3 months worth of weekend use.
