Mark, We are sure there are existing guns that are not on the list because of missing stock/order books. Another way would be to go to our "Home Page" and type in your serial number to see if the PGCA has any records on your gun.If there is info you can order a letter from the PGCA.

Thanks again. I will be sending for a letter!
Any idea how much of a premium a 14ga would have over a 12ga? |

A high condition 14 gauge would be sold for a large premium over a 12 gauge. A lesser condition 14 would not be sold for as much of a premium. This is my opinion of the situation. Get that letter to get a better idea. By the way, Mark, what is the configuration and condition of this gun, and maybe the serial number. Does the website search function say that there is information available in the PGCA research files?.

It is a 14ga 30in twist barrel fish tail top lever. Web site says info is available. Gun is in good original condition. Good bores, on face, lots of wall thickness, unmolested, some case color, pattern is strong, good screws, original dogs head butt and no cracks or repairs to the wood.
I'll post photos when I have some time |

I shot doves in west Kansas with my DH 14 over the weekend. I used turned down Greener Police brass with 209 primers, 1 1/8 copper 7.5 in a Remington wad. I used 1 1/8 powder dipper with trail boss powder which filled the brass shell nicely. The top wad was held in place with a slight press from the crimp starter on a MEC reloader. This was deadly on doves and came from Tom Armbrust. I have used this gun as well as my PH 14 for bobwhites, roosters and lesser prairie chicken near home. I only use black powder in my top lever twist hammer 14. It was quite a bit of work on the lathe but after you have the brass turned and set they will reload easily. For drilling the primers use 15/64 bit followed by 5/16ths to set the lip for the 209 primers. I use skull and crossbones fingernail decals to make the topwad look deadly. You can get all necessary wads from Circle Fly Wads. Its been awhile since seeing you at Trinidad, I hope you are well Mark.

Without knowledge of recent sold price activity, I think the value on a 14ga would be highly speculative. I think the market is narrow and small even among Parker collectors. To me , a 12 or 16 ga would have more interest because of the cartridge issue. |
