Default VH ST Doubling

I just picked up a VH with a single trigger. It works fine when fired using snap caps. The first time I fired it with RST ammo it worked correctly. The next two times it doubled. Any thoughts as to what the problem may be? Thanks

If your gun is a 12 ga. and you have trigger pulls of less than 3lbs., that is the likely origin of your problem. The maker would be nice to know too, Parker, Miller, selective, nonselective, etc. Amateurs should stay away from single triggers.

It is not a Miller trigger. It is selective with the selector being on the top tang using the safety button.

Miller had two designs, the early one has the shift selector incorporated into the original safety button = forward right barrel, center safe, rear left barrel. The later version has a shift rocker inside the trigger guard ahead of the trigger that tipped right/left. Not saying yours is definitely an early Miller but it sounds like it could be.

Thanks, I thought all Millers were identified on the trigger.

Lightbulb Single trigger doubling

Or it could be your tight grip. I spent about $800 trying to fix my 12 gauge GHE Parker single trigger that was doubling. Then, some people on here suggested that I was gripping the gun too tightly and causing the second shot myself. I thought that was ridiculous, but it has never done it since I started holding the gun a little more loosely with my trigger hand. It may be worth a try.

Thank you all for your input. I intend to get the trigger pull measured and shoot again ( when the rain stops ). I think I may well be the problem and will rule that out before I go any further.

A safety button selector would be a miller.

David, why not post pictures of the safety button incorporating the barrel selector and a side view pic of the trigger?
