yeah it happens when you blink. The only good news is before you know it, you'll have a grandaughter leading you around by the finger. And that is worth all the worry it took to get there.

Hey Calvin,

So long as she still occasionally has time for her old dad then consider yourself lucky! If she also hunts and/or shoots with you then life is good.

My little girl turned 50 last December. I was off the coast of South Africa in a hurricane when she was born. She was 3 months old before I got to see her. She's still my little girl.

Best Regards, George

Default Indeed the truth-

Just held my now 6 weeks old second grandson Jack Robert O'Scanlon yesterday, and he reached out his tiny fist and grabbed my thumb. Even though his father Sean O'Scanlon is not a hunter or a gun owner (even though his Dad Casey was in my beloved USMC as a 6 month Reserve) he has some great virtues- A Notre Dame grad with season tickets for 4 (I like to see old Touchdown Jesus in South Bend blessing all us Green Micks on a October Saturday--) a 2 handicap golfer, and their oldest, my youngest granddaughter Kathleen Mae O'Scanlon will be three in early April-- being a grandfather is great- I changed my Avatar foto- that's my older granddaughter Sophia Anastasia with me on the deck this recent Feb-- Hopefully they'll all get college educations like I saw that their mothers did-

Well Calvin, you have Fort Hays State, Kansas State and Kansas University not too far, and all excellent schools with scholarships for the achievers. Get her there as a HS sophomore and get her thinking about what could be. Where there is a will there is always a way.

Good deal Calvin,
My little Punkinhead is growing up every day. I've got a picture of her holding two nice flounder when she was 8 yrs old, and an identical picture when she was seventeen, standing in the same boat. (fish look smaller, cause she looks bigger!) Best part is, both days were Fathers Day! Now-a-days she doesn't get much time to fish with the old man,(Full time at Georgia Southern university) but she'll be attending her third Southern SXS this year, shooting her favorite shotgun in the world. (an LC Smith 16 ga. that originally belonged to the father (God rest his soul) of one of the best shooters that Team Parker has ever fielded! Not me obviously!!)
Sounds like you'll have enough time to break her in on a twelve or sixteen gauge before the Southern, since she wont be able to shoot her ten gauge in the Challenge events! Believe me, it'll become a family (You and her) tradition that you both will look forward to every year, and one that you wouldn't trade for anything in the world. They all have to grow up...but they don't have to grow away!
