Default Cold February Day

AH sent back several times. 1 frame with 30 “ 16ga fine Damascus and later added 30 “ 20ga Parker Steel. Ejectors added. This gun was brought back from England.

An interesting side story to this gun. The British proof house requires polished barrels although polishing removes good metal and reduces wall thickness. A friend and I were on a sporting clays course, he was shooting the 20ga barrels on this gun . I shot a series with it and commented that I thought I could feel the barrel wall flexing under my forward hand. Next round the barrel ruptured just forward of his lead hand , thankfully no injury. The wall thickness was .006 at the rupture and the barrels were in proof. The 20 ga barrels you see now have been sleeved .

PS = Peerless Steel?

or...

PS = Parker Steel?

**************************

The above is a legitimate question.

Bruce subsequently edited his post to read Parker Steel

Ed there is only one original forend because the 20 g barrel was added later. I have a 1917 A grade trap ( beaver tail ) forend that will require some minimal fitting .

Bruce: Looking at the guns you post pictures of reminds me of looking at the British Crown Jewels in National Geographic in the high school library in the 60's. Words can't describe. The highest grade Parker I ever owned was a 95% C grade that I sold after two years because I was afraid I would hurt it while hunting, and I won't keep a gun I wont hunt. I'm glad that you and other collectors here post pictures of the eye candy I will never own. Personally, I like your legacy P grade the best. Thanks.

I shoot or hunt every gun that I own. Just choose the right circumstances.

Me, too, Bruce. My 32" CHE 16/20 is in very high condition, but it was bought to kill doves. It's done that each year that I've had it. And, it will be breaking clays this weekend at Old Hudson. Not the ideal chokes for a soft clay course, but it'll do it's part if I do mine.

.006"??? That's thinner than a Budweiser beer can! Gorgeous gun. Wood doesn't get much if any better than that.
