Default Woodcock

Last weekend to run dogs in Michigan and it was a perfect day to be outside. We didn’t find many birds (1-grouse, 3-woodcock) but on the way back to my truck we found this beautiful hen sitting on her nest.

Very cool, Jay. Sure wish I had Beau up there with your dog. Take care and stay healthy.

Years ago spring turkey hunting ran up on a Woodcock with little ones she really put on a show cripple. Would come up to me close enough to catch trying to lead me away from her young. Only time I ever saw such or a Woodcock with young here in Virginia.

Charlie;

My buddy’s setter point it and it took us 5-minutes to find her and we watched every step we took. I was ~ 3’ from her when I took this photo.

It really was a grand day to be in the woods with a good friend and setters.
