Default ejector gun not closing

Just purchased my first Parker with ejectors. After breaking the gun down to clean, and hooking the barrels on the receiver the gun would not close. Am sure it is something I am doing or not doing, but this has ever happened with my other Parkers. HELP

Mr. Rainey:
Make sure both ejector hammers jutting up from the forend iron are cocked. In other words, fully set toward the tip of the forearm. If one or both are tripped, the forend will not go on. Cock them (individually) by pushing forward with a piece of wooden dowel or brass rod.

Maybe I did not make myself clear. after the barrels were hooked to the receiver the barrels would not close on the receiver.

If the barrels will not close on the receiver, maybe the ejectors are closed against the breech. I believe they need to be "out" a bit.

Is the top lever open? I assume from your description the forend is not on yet. It is possible you tripped the top lever while cleaning?
