Everybody's entitled to their own opinion. My opinion is that such a statement is much to broad.

Jumped Birds? 16 dead for 20 shells? | ![]() |

We flushed 16 birds, that I might believe- jumped? maybe, and what birds? Pen raised quail? Native birds well into the quail season with strong wings? All singles, or covey rises? What gauge and choke?? What range the shots- waaay too many variables here. Recalls Nash B's comment about ace duck shot Capt. Harold Money's shooting on quail-- "Death on singles, but the covey rise always troubled him?""
RBL--my bird hunting partner was given a 20 with a single trigger for his retirement (from the Bench- Judge of Probate)--I have seen and shot it a few times, nice gun but not worth the asking price IMO- I would not wish to be caught calling one of the Founding Fathers of the PGCA mendacious- BUT that kinda shooting average- 75% on birds- huum- old timer told me that you put a mallard on the strap for every three shells fired- including finishing off cripples- you are in the near expert class- a mallard for every 2.5 shells fired, you are an expert duck shot- taking all shots offered, no holds barred or asked-- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Francis Morin; 06-12-2010 at 12:18 PM.. |

The endorsement does nothing for the gun or the man who made it.

I actually like my RBL, a lot... but that's kind of creepy. It sounds like Bass Pro Shop telling you they have some rod that catches more fish.

Maybe George Herter is writing copy for CSM from his great duck blind in the sky.
I do like my RBL - case colored, SG/BTFE, long exhibition Turkish stock. Last edited by John Dallas; 06-14-2010 at 07:00 AM.. |

I bought a RBL also with a straight stock and beaver tail forend 20 ga. It took me forever to shoot a straight with it. It sort of has a swooped rib, which reminds me of some of Dave Purnell's under lifters. But as you experts say, the only way to hit targets is to shoot each gun a lot and get the feel of it.
Asa Kelley let me shoot a 20 ga Straight stocked Parker (that had black tape on the wrist to hold it together) and I broke 24 on the skeet range. I liked that so much I bought it and sent it to Bill Schwarz and had a new stock and forend made. When he returned it, the first time out I shot a straight, so who knows, PARKERS are the best in my shooting experience. |

Pat, I just sent a 32" VH with green tape on the wrist to the stockmaker. I hope I have some of your luck with it when I shoot my first round.
