i'll get a better one - you can see some of it here- the spur was somehow broken (no damage to the wood - so must have been off at the time)- and the gap filled with brown accu-glass, I think if they had used black it would not show-

nope - just an anomaly from a handyman
maybe one of these days I'll get it out and replace it with black

Glass bedding.

Ricks gun also has a bad crack in the wood from lead in the butt. Expanded and caused the wood to split. I have seen this several times. Even on newer high end Berettas where they put lead in the butts from the factory.

If you find a gun with lead in the butt... Get it out!

look close at the last picture - you can see it about 1/3 of the way down

Now that the weather is improving and I can get back in the shop, we will find out

I am thinking of putting in something like nice shot

If nothing else it will raise the value of the gun


BTW - the barrel's marked weight on this one is 6lbs 7oz - hence the need for weight to balance

lead - nice shot is about the same density

i think the issue is that the lead was poured in the hole and expands when it cools

so- if the lose shot-with a buffering to keep it form rattling - is not practical -

I may cast a plug out side the gun to a hair under the hole's diameter - then sleeve it in a thin medium density sheet of plastic to accommodate expansion and slide it in - its always a possibility i may need an adjacent small hole for more weight to regain the balance
