In short, no. I have shot both factory and reloaded Bismuth shells through a variety of Parker's and some other classic doubles, both fluid and composite barrels, for 20 years without issue. Most of the guns are fowler's with tight chokes. I hunt geese and have used/use BB, 1's and 2's, again with no issue. I really like the way 1 1/4 ounce of 1's performs on decoying Canada's. If you are reloading and the stated pressure is 7700 psi for Bismuth shoot it with confidence regardless of shot size.

Thanks for the info I will do just that . 1 1/4 oz AA hull 25.5 gr longshot AA red wad 1.250 fps / 7700 psi works great in my model 12's load is from the rcbs loading manual .

I just started loading Bismuth this season . So far just in 10 gauge guns of which all but one are damscus . Anyway I use the REM hull , SP-10 wad , 30 grains SR7625 , a WIN CCI or REM 209 primer and 1 1/4 weighed ounces of Bismuth #1 .
That load patterned well in my W&C Scott circa 1881 hammerless 10 gauge and both of my hammerless Parker EH guns . Haven't had a chance to try it in my other four 10's but in time ! |

FWIW , when I purchased 6.6 pounds of Bismuth #1 from Precision Reloading 3 or 4 months ago it was $185 . I recently looked at the prices in anticipation of getting some more and the same container of #1 is now $205 . When I bought what I have BB and #2 were the same price as #1 . Now with the latest price increase BB and #2 are now shown at $225 for 6.6 pounds if my memory serves .

Living in Canada makes purchasing components even more expensive the last 7lb container of bismuth I purchased was $200.00 that was a yr ago our $ is about 30 cents less than the U.S. $ I'm expecting the 7lb container to be $250 ish . Note the load I have mentioned comes from the RCBS reloading hand book of shot shells
