Default deer hunt today

got up at 5.00 am this morning fixed myself a big breakfast of 2 biscuits 2 eggs 2 pieces of real hog bacon and some home made jelly and i just about talked myself out of going hunting...my cousin from over in alabama had come over for a weeks hunt with me so he was to meet me at 7.00am and us go hunt...we left my house at 7.15 walking we were going to try walking over some fairly growed up old fields hoping to jump a buck...we found lots of scraps and tracks we only jumped 2 does in them thickets...i needed the parker short barreled ten gauge loaded with buckshot for these thickets...i usally carry a shotgun but i carried a scoped rifle today...we walked till 9.00 and came back to my house i had to stop hunting and go to town...at noon we went back to hunting this time on my grandfathers old farm..i put my cosin terry up in a shooting house over looking a large field there was a good buck and several does useing this field....i went and hunted in a large scope of oak trees hoping to get a buck in my sights...at about5.00 pm i heard something running thru the leaves headed straight for me then it stopped and started bolwing at me..what ever a he or she i never got to see it it went out of hearing blowing at me....i had put out deer lure the wind was dead calm but that deers sharp noise sure picked up my scent....i figured it was probly a big wise old doe.... shooting light had ended in the woods for me so i gathered up my scent lure bottles and got my chair foled up and slung over my shoulder i went back down the beaten path i had come in on. as i got close to the big field i heard a shot when i got to the field terry was climbing down he said he had made a good hit. he was shooting a 308bolt action...the deer went about 60 yards it had crossed a little ditch and almost fell in another road...she was really big and fat....shes now being processed....gota get up early again we gona hunt hard the rest of the week.....charlie

Well done Charlie. The only thing left this year in Ga. are squirrels and crows. There is always next year I hope. Oh I forgot about the up coming turkey season.

Charlie my buds came your way last Friday on the way to Lake Village AR for the annual piggy hunt !

I was all ready to make the trip , but my pops medical condition kept me from going .

If I had been able to have made the trip I was gonna try and take a side trip by your place !

I think we still have what they call "Urban Archery Season" until the end of February or March .

Incidentally my gunsmith bud is still in Lake Village and knocked over a 185 pound sow last night around 11 PM AR time . Think he's heading back to VA this Saturday .

that was a big sow..it s on my bucket list to get a big pig...today i got up early at 4.30fixed a big breakfast of 2 egss bacon and 2 big biscuits...waited on terry he was about 15 minutes late..as we were getting ready to deer hunt he said he was going out andget his crow caller out of the truck...i asked him did he bring his shotgun he said no..i told him lets change plans for the day and go crow hunting..i loaned him a little parker 20 ga vh grade factory 27 inch barrels...i got my old 3 frame 12 ga parker out....so off we go forgot we both were shooting low power federal field loads no 7 1/2. off we go first stop we set up a crow decoy and a owl decoy..i killed 5 crows there with the 3 frame 12 terry only killed 1 with the 20 ga...was not hard to see that the 20 ga was not a long range crow gun...ha next stop we killed 2 crowss one for the 20 and one for the 12 we moved on to a pine thicket we hunted to close to the truck but managed to knock down 1 crow with the 3 frame...we made one more stop terry killed 1 and the 3 frame got one...wellwe know next time to shoot 12 ga or 10 ga on those wary crows...i then ate dinner and then went deer hunting by myself..i only seen a big doe i let her pass....going deer hunting again in the morning on a new to me place....charlie

When I used to be in on a lease in southern Dorchester County Maryland back in the late 90's all the mom and pop resteraunts we went to in Cambridge would have 2-2-2's on the menu , two eggs , two pieces bacon and two pancakes .

So each morning around 10 AM after we came outta the woods and went to the variouse resteraunts I'd get a 6-6-6 and a quart of milk

The after hunt breakfast is always fun. Sausage and grits never taste so good
