Default THE WRITING OF THE PARKER STORY

We Parker affectionadios owe much to those noble souls who at their own time and expense, perservered through toil and trouble to find, sort, digest and comprise all available Parker information into two-volume reference, THE PARKER STORY. On the Doublegun Shop's information page is an short article by Commander Roy Gunther titled; THE WRITING OF THE PARKER STORY. If you have not read this piece I recommend that you do. Here is the link:

This is the bible that we all use. I have actually worn out my first set of books, and have purchased my second. To those men that took the time, and the intense labor to write these books my" everlasting thank you." I have had the pleasure of knowing, or meeting nearly all of these people.
To own a Parker gun is an honor, to meet the people connected to PGCA is a blessing. What a wonderful group, Charles Parker would be thrilled.......................Jim

I read Commander Gunther's description of the research he did at Ilion in 1997 and earlier. He is not giving himself nearly the credit he deserves in that project.

Being a somewhat collector of Lefever Arms Co, LC Smith, and AH Fox guns I especially appreciate the extensive records of the Parker Brothers guns. Thanks to Mister's Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote's PARKER STORY along with a second for Charlie Price with S.P. Fjestad for the IDENTIFICATION AND SERIALIZATION book, anyone can quickly gain information concerning collecting Parkers. This is the near opposite of trying to learn about the finer points concerning the other vintage American SxS guns.

THE PARKER STORY and the PARKER GUN IDENTIFICATION AND SERIALIZATION book level the field of collecting. For Parkers the information is there if one looks for it!

Once again my sincerest thanks to Mister's Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote's along with Mister Fjestad.

Mark

Mark,

Well said. I also have Lefevers, Smiths, Foxes, Ithacas, etc... as well as 2 Parkers. There is a whole lot more info on the Parkers than the others. I have the Parker story, it was a great read as well as a reference. Just need to get the Parker Gun and Serialization book.
