Bill
I'm not sure but I know it is similar. I didn't buy it because I don't know what I'm doing. I guess they are not as rare as I thought if they are available elsewhere. I'm not looking to start collecting shells. I just didn't know if I had run across something rare. Thx, Ray |

JP Stevens, Iver Johnson, and Winchester made single shot guns in 24 ga. I would suspect other American Mfgrs also did, but it is a relatively common gun in Europe, and has been continually available.
The Vintagers now recognizes 24ga. as a class now, in addition to 32ga. 14 ga. is still unclassified. |

I noted the 24-gauge box of Remington shells in the Wards auction --
https://www.wardscollectibles.com/vi....php?item=1175 Interesting box. Must be from right around 1930 or 31 as it is still a tan box but has Kleanbore priming which usually came in the new green two-piece boxes. I've had this later box of Remington 24-gauge shells for years -- ![]() ![]() None of my UMC, Rem-UMC or Remington ammunition catalogues list 24-gauge shells, but they certainly seem to have made them!! |

The U.S. Cartridge Company 24 gauge Parker pictured in The Parker Story belonged to my fellow gun club member, Bob Hess. When I went to a friend's home in McLean, VA years ago to pick up Bob Hess' 20 gauge skeet gun after his death, I found a wooden Remington crate with 20 boxes of 24 gauge for the Parker. My friend had decided to add them to his collection and would not sell them to me. The 24 gauge Parker was already sold. The only guns I bought from Bob Hess' collection were the cased 20 gauge VHE skeet, and a very early mint solid rib Browning Superposed 3" gun. To this day, I don't own a box of 24 gauge Remingtons. The famous collector and hunter, Fred Davis, had the Browning in his store in Falls Church on consignment. I expressed interest in it, not knowing it was my friend Bob's gun. Fred told me I could buy it cheaper if I contacted the seller directly and gave me the phone number of my friend who was handling Bob's estate guns. What a great guy Fred Davis was.
