Default Jaybird's Trout Lily at 8 months

Not long after I met the folks from the Parker Gun Collectors Society at Pheasant Fest I visited the kennel of another fella who had a booth at Pheasant Fest and picked up a new setter pup.

I've been working her on both wild birds and more recently planted birds since then, and she is growing up and coming along.

Here she is at 8 months. for the last few training sessions she has been standing steady to wing and shot. Not with any encouragement on my part, but just standing there naturally.

We have even set up situations where we simulate multiple flushes and shots off a single point and she just stands there. I've started a lot of setter grouse dogs and this is a first for me.

Anyway here is a poor photo from a recent training session and another couple from her most favorite thing, being my trout fishing buddy.

Beautiful dog. You can already see the bond forming.

Good shooting with her. She looks like a winner already as she is family now.

Jay,
One fine looking pup. Almost gives me the urge to get another but 3 at once is enough. You have a bunch of fun coming your way. Good luck with her!
