Default Hodgon powder factory burns

Got this email just now from a reliable source. I assume everyone knows what this means for us reloaders for a while.

"Received a call today from Frank at GNG. He talked to Hodgdon today and the powder factory in Australia did burn down. That particular factory is the one that makes all the shotgun powders. So that's not good news for shotgun reloaders."

One would think in this age of the internet there would be some news of such a fire quickly available. I am not able to find anything via Google searches with a variety words. Not saying it is not true I just can't quickly verify this on my own.

I have over a dozen Lbs. each of HS7 and HS6. I'am a little short on Longshot, as late in life I got involved with this WHIZARD stuff. Thanks for the tip I will go looking for the WHIZARD Longshot today.

Just spoke to a major midwest distributor today about the Hodgdon fire issue. According to them, it was indeed a fire, but only in one machine that processed Clays and International Clays. Nothing else. So... they say don't look for those powders for over a year. Other Hodgdon powders are still in their "high demand stage" of availability, and nothing more.

Take it all for a report. Can't see why a Big time distributor would make it up.

I have been on a waiting list for an 8lb can of H4895 from three suppliers for almost two months. Whats the difference between Clays and International Clays? I use the Clays in my low pressure 12ga loads.

Clay Dot from Alliant. Cheaper than and made to mimic Clay's powder.

Well, I'm starting to feel a small measure of comfort now. I've got over 50 lbs. of powder and around 20,000 primers. That will hopefully last until the next national election.
