I was thinking about sending some shells loaded from the 16 G spread sheet off for testing when I blundered onto the Hodgdon data. Like you am going to stick with 3/4 2 1/2 inch. I could use a heavier load in my Trojan 16, but what’s the point when 3/4 does all I need.
7/8 has always given me trouble in cheddites. They crimp 1 oz better. Puts me into fillers that are less than ideal. William |

I think, but not sure, you could just sub in the CBer wad. They many times have lower pressure than the DR wad. At least at these pressures there shouldn't be a worry.

Nick Sisley loaded and tested Cheddite 2 1/2 using Universal, International, and now extinct PB and 7625 using Dr 16 3/4 loads and BP 16 7/8 loads of 8 shot posted in Skeet Shooting some time ago. These are the same as lisited on the Hogdon's site. He also loaded 20/28 with the BP 16 7/8 but I can't find the specifics. I think 15 grains 20/28 in the DR 16 w/3/4 loads. I,ll keep searching.

Would you happen to know how many grains of PB was used for the 3/4 and 7/8 oz. loads. I still have some PB left that I haven't tried for a 16 gauge. My old Dupont manual has some high velocity loads at around 1300 fps and 10500 psi that use 24 gr. I do not want to try anything that hot, and was thinking of using around 16 to 18 grains for a 7/8 oz. load.

My Lyman Shot Shell handbook 2nd edition 1976 has 1 oz 16 g PB loads. Lightest one is 18 grs Federal Hull & Primer, Shot cup / fiber wad that’s no longer available.
1130 FPS 8,100 lbs |
