Default Aftermarket or Parker butt stock?

A VH dating to 1900 looks right except for this butt stock.

The seller says this:

12 Gauge
BBL 30", Full/Full
14 5/8" LOP, 1.5" DAC, 2 5/8" DAH
Factory trap stock, with original hard rubber butt plate.

It predates beavertails and vent ribs. Were "monte carlo" stocks offered by Parker in 1900?

Thanks in advance for your comments and input.

John

I would say that is an old restock because the buttplate appears to have no peak at the rear of the comB. It is likely that gun had a lot of drop originally and to make the restock work the Monte Carlo was configured. I've looked at that gun too. It's interesting and also way over priced.

I also saw that gun, don't remember where. The stock looks factory to me. I would buy that gun at the right price.

Kittery Trading Post had a 28 ga. with 30" barrels with a raised stock exactly like that one, to the last detail about 4 or 5 years ago. Perhaps John Dunkle remembers it... I think John brought it to the Southern that year.

I remember looking at that gun when it was at the KTP, the original stock had defiinitely been modifed and a piece added to create a Monte Carlo. I can't see the same has been done to this gun in the pictures, perhaps a closer inspection would reeal the same but it is not evident.

A letter on a friends great grandfathers AAH indicates that in 1898 "patch stock to make Monte Carlo".

A dealer in Anchorage has a very nice 24" DHE28 that came to him in a trunk case and has a non-patched monte carlo stock. Trigg and I both reckoned the stock was not original. It just didn't match the forend well enough in color or wood. We didn't remove the trigger guard to check for a S/N. He had it restocked. I don't think he has gotten a letter on the gun. It is a beauty in near mint condition.
