Pitting on receiver?

I've been studying Parkers for 20+ years and have had a lot of questions and here is another one. I've seen pitting in new steel and my question here is could this have been there when it was made or is this something that happened afterwards? Also does the colors look like original?

The case colors are re-done and who did the work did not want to correct the pitting.

This is an often encountered issue today where someone wants a new paint job dut does not want to pay for the proper prep.

In this case, correcting the pitting would best be done by micro welding those areas. The areas are very concentrated and also appear deep. They would not just file out.

Thanks Brian, that's my opinion also. I have seen pictures of high condition Parkers with a little pitting that looked legit.

I hate this expression, but 'it is what it is'. I wouldn't loose sleep over it. The whole is way greater than the sum of it's parts.

I've got a few pits in me also and I not going to lose any sleep over them. I is what I is too. I like it and I am just going to shoot the d--- thing.

Well as I said in my last post, I have been shooting it, and I have to say I'm really liking it.
I bought this gun a few weeks ago from a member here knowing it was ugly and needed some attention. I just bought a chamber and choke from Galazan's and it measures cylinder in the right barrel and looks to be about improved in the left, the choke gauge is only marked for cylinder mod and full. Go figure for $45 dollars. The chamber gauge is marked somewhat better and the chamber measures 2 3/4 inches. I was expecting it to be 2 1/2 inches. My other Parkers 12 and 16 gauges measure 2 5/8 inches as I was expecting. It is a VH 20 Ga 28 inch 1924 year. Should this be correct? I also bought one of Galazan's finger guards that I think will help with the arthritis pain. I usually shoot only 25 shells a day and so far I'm hitting 23 or 24 targets. When it gets my middle finger I will usually miss one of the next two. This is the clays gun I've been looking for so I think I will have the buggered screws addressed. I have much nicer Parker and other guns but I just like this one even if it is ugly.
