Default Questions on Parker’s

Here are a few questions I have. Any feedback is appreciated while I search for the answers.

As I understand, Parker never installed Miller triggers.
My question is did Remington?
If not, were Almost all Single triggers made by Miller and installed In Parker’s installed by them?

Has there ever been documentation found were a gun was sent back to Parker or Remington to have the barrels shortened or were all shortened barrels done by the local hack with a saw?
I have always thought all shortened barrels were not factory but with as many cut barrels we find and the large numbers of Parker’s sent to Parker or Remington for repair. Would it not be likely they would also offer this service?

Where was the middle bead installed ? Was it Mid way?

When a gun was sent back to Parker or Remington to make it shoot close ( tighter pattern) how was this accomplished?

My thoughts, it is very possible that miller triggers could have been factor installed to new guns on request by the customer. But of course the cast majority of Parker guns with miller triggers in them were installed by miller. There would be no mistaking the difference in quality of install between the two.

Barrels were shorted by the factory on returns if requested.

A mid bead should be in the middle as a standard unless otherwise requested or desired.

And in order to make a choke tighter than it was, the barrel wold likely need to be backbored.

Thank you Brian. I ordered a letter today for an interesting 20 gauge. I will be posting pictures after the letter arrives.

It has been my experience that the factory-installed mid bead was between 14 to 16 inches to the rear of the front bead regardless of barrel length and most often at the inch increment.
I have a shortened set of barrels that were originally installed on the gun when ordered new in 1912.

It is my understanding that during the late 1920s/early 1930s when Ithaca Gun Co. was using the Miller trigger, they sent the guns to Miller for the installation. Would Parker Bros. or Remington have done the same if a customer requested a Miller trigger?

Interesting question about the mid-bead. I did some measuring and found the following for it's worth:

SA, 32 inch barrel, mid-bead is 18 inches behind front bead. PB

SB, 32 inch barrel, mid-bead is 17 3/4 inches behind front bead. Rem

SC, 32 inch barrel, mid-bead is 17 3/4 inches behind front bead. Rem

SC, 30 inch barrel, mid-bead is 18 inches behind front bead. Rem

GHE, 30 inch barrels, mid-bead is 14 1/4 inches behind front bead. PB

All the forgoing guns have vent ribs.

The 32" SB and SC are within one serial number of each other.

I once owned a VH 12 gauge that was sent back to the factory to be shortened by 2" All they did was cut them off no line or anything they did replace the bead also the owner wanted a set of 20 gauge 32" twist barrels made for the gun, this was a 2 frame you talk about swamp! Gary

I purchased a DH16 from Jim at Ivory Beads that was Lettered at 29" and was sent back to the factory to be shortened to 28" according to the same letter.
