It has been my experience that the factory-installed mid bead was between 14 to 16 inches to the rear of the front bead regardless of barrel length and most often at the inch increment.
I have a shortened set of barrels that were originally installed on the gun when ordered new in 1912. .

It is my understanding that during the late 1920s/early 1930s when Ithaca Gun Co. was using the Miller trigger, they sent the guns to Miller for the installation. Would Parker Bros. or Remington have done the same if a customer requested a Miller trigger?

Interesting question about the mid-bead. I did some measuring and found the following for it's worth:
SA, 32 inch barrel, mid-bead is 18 inches behind front bead. PB SB, 32 inch barrel, mid-bead is 17 3/4 inches behind front bead. Rem SC, 32 inch barrel, mid-bead is 17 3/4 inches behind front bead. Rem SC, 30 inch barrel, mid-bead is 18 inches behind front bead. Rem GHE, 30 inch barrels, mid-bead is 14 1/4 inches behind front bead. PB All the forgoing guns have vent ribs. The 32" SB and SC are within one serial number of each other.

I purchased a DH16 from Jim at Ivory Beads that was Lettered at 29" and was sent back to the factory to be shortened to 28" according to the same letter.
