The stock on this gun is not original for sure.
The engraving is a complete head scratcher. There is very little about it that looks typical for Parkers. The scroll work, the prominent use of stippling and the shading cuts. The closest to this that came from Parker was the engraving that was done on SC single trap guns. But even that is very different from this gun. I am not saying that it is not factory right, but it is VERY out of the ordinary, especially for that grade of gun. I would be really curious about what a letter may say about the gun. The flat rib solid rib is a rare feature as well, they are out there, but not many of them.

Yup, the stock is not original, but if the flat rib is present on both sets of barrels, the gun is one rare pigeon gun and well worth the price. A serial number and a letter if the gun was made in the "order book" era, and the gun may turn out to be a bargain for big gun and pigeon gun collectors. I recently moved into a house where I couldn't see Chuck's property from my upper deck like I could from the old house. I may save some money now.

I can not say I've ever seen that engraving from any of the known men who worked at, or for Parker. Yes, a real head scratcher for certain. Bill, you know him well enough. Call and get us the story, I would be very disapointed if it turned out to be finished by someone else, though that wouldn't take away from it's appeal.

That engraving may be Parker but it is going to be a tough sell without something (letter) to back it up. Even if it is Parker it does not speak to me at all. I would much rather have traditional D engraving over that style, just my opinion. Concerning the lack of drop points, has anyone ever seen a hammerless D grade or above that did not have drop points ?

This gun is definitely an enigma. It almost looks like a "put together" gun with a flat rib, a 'custom' stock (of sorts) which may or may not be original to the gun. The checkering says "Remington" to me and the engraving says “novice” too. I wonder if it didn't start out as a VHE project gun for apprentices in each department....
