Puglisi Vh #101091516 Please help me out on the top tang and what looks to be two screws and longer than normal ?

The tang has been lengthened. Likely done in an attempt to reinforce after a break to the stock.

Thanks Brian I did go back and look at the rest of the pictures and did pick up on what looks to be a repair to the stock , strange they dont mention it .
