Default Merry Christmas

What better way to wish everyone at the PGCA a Merry Christmas than with a setter on point no less.

Nice, Merry Christmas to you even if we're a bit early ( I haven't even done the first batch of cookies yet )

it would have been a good weekend for dog work here except for being the end of regular gun season for deer, I just will not run the dogs then. Muzzleloader starts tomorrow, I should get the flinter out for a walk sometime this week, but the dogs are a bit antsy to run.

but it was great weather for a December day, I spent most of the afternoon working in the shop, and just came in from feeding the barn cats when it finally started the forecasted rain.

Nothing like a young setter on point to put some Holiday Cheer in anyone's mood... Thanks Allen and back at ya!

The setter's name is 'Buddy' and he's six (6) years old. We shot pheasants over him at Markover this past Saturday. We waited for the drizzle to stop around 11 am and then went out to the fields with his owner and handler Roy who is like a member of our family after all these years. With the air heavy with so much moisture, the scent conditions were terrific. We just needed the birds to fly and they did! All in all, it was a good day with a great friend and former teammate and just a super pre-Christmas treat.

Alan,
Glad to hear you had a good day at Markover. I took my 7 month old Britt out for a little training this weekend and the humidity and 10 mph breeze made scenting the birds ideal. I love this time of year.

Have Parker can/will travel Autumn Daze.

Besides the folks at Markover being 'regular' and gracious hosts, there's no pretentiousness about the place. Keith and Kevin and their staff are great people. Over the past several years, they've expanded the property, opened and developed new cover for their birds and this has made for even better time in the field.
