Parker Remington

After the 1937 buyout was the quality different? I am looking at a 1940 VHE 20 Gauge skeet gun and I need some comments as to how desireable these Remington Parkers are in relation to the origional Parkers.

George, some may say the Remington era guns lack the same level of quality that the earlier guns had, however I have two now and have had others and I believe they are just as robust and reliable as the earlier guns. The Remington era guns are quite collectable in their own right, as are the skeet guns. I would say that the condition and diminsions of the gun will bear more effect on the value than whether it's a Remington gun or not. If it's nice and you like it, buy it.

Hello George , Most of the Fellas that usually answer such questions as yours are away this Weekend to the PGCA Annual Meeting at Georgetown ! I would have to say any of the actual Skeet Guns are very desirable ,especially if marked that it is a Skeet Gun on the Barrel Flats ! The Remington guns are very desirable in any style and Grade ,there are actually far less of them than the Meriden Guns ! I believe all would agree that the quality is very good ,and most have more modern Dimensions ,usually with much less drop in the Heel of the stock . In my opinion the engraving was nicer to my eye on the early guns ,I especially like the engraving style on the early 1900 guns although V Grade Guns were all pretty much the same with just border /line engraving ! Actually many if not most of the Remington guns especially in the lower grades had much nicer wood both Forend and Stock than the Meriden Guns in the same grade ! One other item ,the Meriden guns were marked on the Barrel Rib and were designated by the Grade ,such as the V Grade would say Vulcan Steel , Again ,I like that but that is just me and with that said ,I own a couple of Remington era Guns and think they are quite nice also ,the gun you are looking at wouldn't have any stamping on the rib other than the Barrel Matting ! This sounds like a very nice gun ,I would guess Straight Stock and Beavertail forend , Pictures would be great ! Hope this helps ! Best ; Russ

And we are having a hell of a nice time, even though I didnt win the raffle gun.
The A grade display was stupendous.
My answer: The Remington guns are every bit as good in my opinion.

Someone from California won the raffle gun so if your not from there, there is always next year.

Very nice weather if you were there Thursday afternoon. Friday was nice too but started to get more windy in the afternoon. Friday night it rained pretty hard overnight. Saturday morning started out with drizzle and wind. There were a few times where the rain stopped. It's going to be on and off all day today.

I'm heading back to Pa early tomorrow morning and taking a route more westerly than I-95 to keep away from the coast.

The wife and I had a really good time, met many people I only had correspondence with previously. It's nice to put faces with the names.

I hope all PGCA members have the opportunity to attend a PGCA meeting in the future.
