"Why would you ask?" A bit OT, but several years ago, I mistakenly fitted a set of 20 gauge barrels onto a 12 gauge M21 ( they fit perfectly) and went grouse hunting. Bird up, trigger pulled, no "bang". Looked at the primer - it was struck on the edge. Took me about 15 minutes to figure out what I had done. Was rather apparent when you looked at the mismatch between the standing breech and the barrels. Sure did shorten up the grouse hunt

I'm asking because I was looking for a butt plate and mine measures out to be a #1 frame size. The #0 frame size is smaller than mine. Under my old butt plate is stamped 1. I've never shot this gun but have no reason to believe it would have been mismatched. My barrel is stamped #0.

Stephen, that's not an uncommon fitting of the next size op buttplate.
John Dallas exemplifies my previous point. |

Dean; I am not telling but asking ,didn't we discuss on the old forum that sometimes a # one frame stock was put on to achieve a particular weight or balance of the shotgun, If I remember correctly ,maybe this is what Stephen has here ?

Not likely to tell you much about stock or buttplate size. See the other thread for explanation about buttplate sizes.

Right Russ, that was the discussion and I think it was not limited to the 1-frame buttstock.

So would that have been a special order from the factory?
