Not only do many Remington era Parkers have unmarked ribs, guns sent to Remington for rebarrelling are devoid of rib markings. In addition, after the shutdown of Parker operations at Remington, many barrel sets were sold to Frank Lefever and Son who installed them well into the sixties and maybe the seventies.

Another item worth mentioning is that Remington was unable to succesfully use the rib matting machine that was designed by King after the move. You will notice that the pattern of the matting is different than Meriden produced ribs.

Thanks guys. That's some very interesting history, and it likely explains the top rib in this auction. Somehow, I just don't think Turnbull did the "restoration" job on this one....

if work is claimed to be by turnbull or any one else for that matter, documentation, such as a receipt or letter, etc. should be provided... simply put, no tickie, no washie...
after reading the sellers full description, i see no mention of work being done by turnbull? why did you lead us down this false trail? |

I was wondering about the rib matting. It looks to have not rolled correctly. There's a line offsetting one side for some ways.

I never said the seller made that claim, and I was only being facetious in my reference to Turnbull....I thought that would be obvious in light of how horrible the thickly blued frame looks.

Richard, if you can see any rib matting, you must be looking at different pictures than I am.
