Default Thoughts on CSMC made savage/Fox CE grade guns?

Always been curious about these things they’re high priced but they seem high quality. Would like to know if any forum members have experience with them?

James,

I have the “A” model in 12ga. Think of it as an RBL without the round frame. IMO it has nothing to do with Fox guns. That said, it’s a well balanced, well made gun. I’ve shot lots of birds with it over 4-5 years and it’s been reliable. The “engraving” detracts from its appearance, to my eye, but it’s minimal on the “A” model.

I had the shiny stuff removed from the wood and the comb lowered, a pad installed. It fits well enough now, is good looking, will digest whatever I stuff in it. If it’s lost by the airline I wouldn’t be happy but it wouldn’t be the end of the world.

One odd thing is that the barrels are separated a little more than normal. I checked POI and regulation of pattern and they are both spot on.

When I bought mine they listed for $5k. An add on GI had mine advertised for $4.5k as I recall with the “make an offer” option. I offered $2,750 and they accepted. I’m happy with it at that price.

Brett

They are attractive looking RBLs.

When Tony advertises "make an offer", can we expect to pay $2750 for a gun advertised at $4500? That gives buying from CSMC a whole new vibe.

That appears to be a lot of gun for $2750, to me. I think you did well.

What do the roll stampings, etc., look like on it? Could you post some close ups of them?
