Default Anticipating South Dakota

Heading a few hundred miles north in a couple weeks and back to the farm. We've had so many Parker buddies there over the years, hunted in tee shirts and down coats, dogs now long gone and fondly remembered, new dogs wild with excitement, hunting buddies now gone and fondly remembered. So, Jeff Christie won't be there this year because of the bit of unpleasantness but there might be a glass of fine pinot saved for him.

We always have the opportunity to limit , some do, some don't, and some don't care.

A few pictures from years past. No the picture of Larry Frey and big bird is not here nor is the picture of John Dunkle wearing his pheasant stalking hat, but Parker hunters might enjoy these anyway.

I have lots of great memories of that place and after all isn’t that what it's all about?

The story is that Charlie whacked a rooster that crashed into the cupola and knocked it off kilter. Its all Charlie's fault. It was perfect before then.

FWIW, the top Parker in the photo is my old beater, grandfather's PHE 16 that has been with me for 42 years.

Thanks Bruce. Not only are those the type of hunts we all love to remember, but they also are the hunts we hope for and dream about.

My dad and his old hunting buddy, Charley Stroh, used to go to SD every year, and they were like kids the weeks before. That ended when the airline almost killed their two German Wirehaired Pointers. Good thing the Vet's office was that close to the airport.

That's precisely why my buddies and I drive out every year. Dogs are safe and sound in their crates behind us as are our beloved Parkers, Foxes, Merkels, etc. Besides I refuse to be treated like cattle and a suspected terrorist by the airlines. Why even Jent Mitchell, who piloted military and commercial aircraft for 30+ years, chooses to drive out every year.

Two seventy year old men driving from CT to SD is the stuff movies are made of. Knowing those two, it's safe to say they would forget where they were going before they got out of the state.
